The world's oldest manufacture celebrates its 270th anniversary with The Quest: 270 years of seeking excellence.

As one of horology&rsquo;s revered Holy Trinity, <a href="https://www.hommessingapore.com/watches/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-vacheron-constantin-historiques-222-steel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vacheron Constantin</a> commands deep respect among collectors (despite being relatively underrated compared to its other two contemporaries). The Geneva-based Manufacture has been <a href="https://www.hommessingapore.com/watches/a-lange-soehne-way-of-watchmaking" target="_blank" rel="noopener">crafting timepieces</a> without interruption since 1755, earning its place as the world&rsquo;s oldest continuously operating watchmaker. To celebrate this remarkable heritage, the Maison presents The Quest: 270 years of seeking excellence, a travelling exhibition making its way through major cities around the world. Singapore plays host this weekend, offering enthusiasts a chance to delve into the true heart of <a href="https://www.hommessingapore.com/watches/louis-vuitton-tambour-taiko-spin-time" target="_blank" rel="noopener">High Watchmaking</a> on our shores.

Vacheron Constantin's story begins with a contract, between founder Jean-Marc Vacheron and his first apprentice. A facsimile of this founding document is displayed in the opening chapter of the exhibition, alongside archival photographs, artefacts and historic timepieces that chart the watchmaker&rsquo;s centuries-long pursuit of horological excellence. The next chapter pays tribute to the highly skilled artisans behind the brand&rsquo;s creations, highlighting traditional crafts such as miniature painting, grisaille enamelling, gem-setting and guilloch&eacute; work.

From there, visitors enter the realm of High Watchmaking and the magic that occurs at the Les Cabinotiers workshop. Here, mechanical marvels are revealed in their fully glory, appearing on magnified displays that allow guests to admire the intricate micro cosmos within a wristwatch. The undisputed centrepiece is the Les Cabinotiers &mdash; The Berkley Grand Complication, unveiled in 2024 as the world&rsquo;s most complicated timepiece then, and showcased here in the metal.

The Quest culminates with a projection of starry skies and the Milky Way, a celestial setting that points to the centuries-old bond between astronomy and watchmaking. Immersed in the heavenly atmosphere, visitors are invited to pause, reflect and rediscover Man&rsquo;s fascination with time and the universe itself.
