The global ambassador&rsquo;s visit to the watchmaker&rsquo;s high-tech ceramic lab led to a limited edition True Square Open Heart bearing his name.

It all began with a visit to the <a href="https://www.hommessingapore.com/watches/rado-captain-cook-high-tech-ceramic-comadur-production" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rado manufacture</a> in Lengnau, Switzerland in 2024. For most brand ambassadors, that&rsquo;s their first in-depth encounter with the world of watchmaking, and newly appointed <a href="https://www.hommessingapore.com/watches/korean-actor-ji-chang-wook-graces-opening-of-rado-kl-boutique-celebrity-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ji Chang-wook</a> was no exception. But during the tour of the <a href="https://www.hommessingapore.com/watches/bell-ross-pushes-into-the-future-with-the-br-03-cyber-ceramic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">high-tech ceramic</a> lab, it became evident that the South Korean superstar had a natural affinity with technical processes like colouring ceramics and shaping sapphire glass. So a thought arose: why not create a timepiece bearing his name, right then and there?

Ji&rsquo;s fascination with high-tech ceramic casting techniques led the project towards Rado&rsquo;s signature square monobloc case and the search for the perfect bracelet pairing. The True Square Open Heart emerged as the natural choice: not only for its modern and expressive look, but also for its see-through dial &mdash; a design that mirrors Ji&rsquo;s own openness and curiosity for Rado&rsquo;s universe. It&rsquo;s also the watch he most enjoys wearing day to day.&nbsp;

To make it truly his own, Ji offered a bold suggestion: putting rubies on the dial. The red gemstone is symbolic of good fortune and marks this serendipitous moment; more importantly, it is also his birthstone, which makes its inclusion extra personal and meaningful. Twelve brilliant rubies adorn the hours, complemented by red Super-LumiNova on the hands. Both stand out stylishly against the matte black high-tech ceramic case and bracelet.

The True Square Open Heart X Ji Chang-wook is the culmination of the global ambassador&rsquo;s journey with Rado thus far, and an undeniable reflection of the man himself: suave, charming, and beautifully honest.
